The Duleep Trophy, once a showpiece event on the domestic calendar, has over the years lost its sheen. The redball contest that began in the 1961-62 season has undergone a lot of changes, going from a five-zone tournament to a com -petition with teams chosen by BCCI selectors to a pink-ball contest.
