UN aid chief says second aid convoy for Gaza could lead to sustained relief

The United Nations is planning to send a second convoy of trucks into Gaza under a light inspection system, allowing relief deliveries to continue into next week. The first convoy of 20 trucks arrived in Gaza on Saturday, but further supplies have been delayed by Israeli demands for aid verification. U.N. aid chief Martin Griffiths stated that negotiations are underway for a possible larger convoy of 20 to 30 trucks on Sunday. The U.N. estimates that 100 trucks per day are necessary to meet essential needs in Gaza.
