US court sets aside TANA selection, calls for election
The Maryland circuit court has invalidated the appointment of members to the Telugu Association of North America’s (TANA) Executive Committee without holding elections. The court has ordered TANA to conduct elections within 90 days. The decision came after a member, Murali Thalluri, challenged the selection process, arguing that it violated TANA’s bylaws. The court also stated that failure to grant relief to the petitioner would cause irreparable harm. TANA had canceled the elections and selected members through a resolution, a move that drew criticism from NRIs in the USA and Canada.
