A plea agreement for one of the key defendants in a terrorism and kidnapping case has been unsealed by a US district judge. The case began with a search for a missing toddler and ended with a raid on a compound in New Mexico in 2018. The defendant, Jany Leveille, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists and possession of a firearm while unlawfully in the US. The family believed the boy would be resurrected as Jesus Christ and planned attacks against the government. Leveille faces up to 17 years in prison.
