Vaccine-derived polio travels from child to dad in rare case

A case of vaccine-derived poliovirus (VDPV) transmission was reported in Kerala, where an immune-deficient child’s virus was transmitted to his healthy father. The discovery came from a study by ICMR and WHO, revealing the potential threat of iVDPVs for poliovirus re-emergence and highlighting the need for long-term iVDPV surveillance post-polio eradication.
