‘Will deport those who came after 2015’: Assam CM on CAA

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Sunday that individuals arriving after 2015 would face deportation under Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rules. Sarma emphasized that those who entered India before 2015 have the first right to apply for citizenship, threatening legal action against non-applicants. This directive aligns with Sarma’s earlier prediction that CAA would have minimal impact due to scant applications, with only two applying so far from pre-2015 arrivals.
