Won’t allow anyone to demean India: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah defended the Modi government’s tough anti-terror stance and its redefinition of the sedition provision during a debate in the Lok Sabha. The new criminal justice bills explicitly bring terrorism under the purview of the criminal justice system. The sedition provision now includes acts against India, such as secession and armed rebellion. AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the bills, claiming they threaten civil liberties and give sweeping powers to the police.
