Free ration scheme to be extended 5 more years: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the extension of the PM Garib Kalyan Ann Yojna (PMGKAY) scheme, which provides free foodgrains to over 80 crore poor people, for the next five years. The scheme, expected to cost Rs 2 lakh crore annually in subsidies, will fortify Modi’s “pro-poor” platform ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
