‘Headline grabbing exercise’: Cong on ‘Samvidhaan Hatya Diwas’

The Union government announced that June 25 will henceforth be observed as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’, marking the day in 1975 when former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi imposed a nationwide Emergency. Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that observing June 25 as ‘Samvidhan Hatya Diwas’ will serve as a “reminder of what happens when the Constitution of India was trampled over.” Home minister Amit Shah shared the government’s decision on Friday.
