Karnataka: Transport dept working on norms for carpooling

The transport department in Bengaluru is set to release guidelines on carpooling after the Dasara festive season. Two ride-hailing apps, Quick Ride and BlaBla car, have submitted representations to the department. The issue arose after complaints from taxi drivers’ unions prompted the department’s enforcement wing to take action against ride-hailing apps. However, the transport minister clarified that no action was taken and the secretary would review the matter. The guidelines will align with the Motor Vehicle Aggregators Guidelines-2020, which aim to reduce congestion and pollution.
