KIA operator bats for second airport in Bengaluru
The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru is expected to reach its annual capacity of 92 million passengers by 2032-33, prompting calls for a second airport. The managing director and CEO of Bangalore International Airport Ltd has said that efforts to identify and acquire land for a second airport should have started two years ago. The KIA is already operating at full capacity, with 40 million passengers this year, and is confident that the growth in aviation will continue. The airport is expected to employ 50,000 people in the next two years.
