Medical student dies of dengue

A postgraduate student of orthopaedics at a Kolkata hospital has died of dengue, becoming the second doctor to succumb to the virus during the current outbreak. The student had suffered cardiac arrests and was admitted with high fever and haemorrhage. This comes as the city has seen a surge in dengue cases, with the infection tally surpassing 4,000, more than two-and-a-half times higher than the same period last year. While private hospitals have seen a drop in dengue admissions, sporadic deaths may continue for another two weeks.
