‘Why ad hoc Jharkhand DGP chosen in violation of SC ruling?’

The Supreme Court has asked the Jharkhand government to explain why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against its chief secretary for appointing Anurag Gupta as acting DGP, in violation of a 2006 SC judgment. The court highlighted that ad hoc appointments for the DGP position are banned and sought responses within two weeks.
